Blackhawk Area Council Pinewood Derby

A signature event for Cub Scout boys and girls in grades Kindergarten - Fifth Grade. Cub Scout Pinewood Derby features race winners and runners-up, and best designs from the Pack level. Large trophies are awarded to each category winner per grade-level.

Arrow of Light Extension: Youth that cross-over to a Troop prior to their Pack event may return and participate in the unit’s race, and qualify to advance to the council race.

You may register your unit for the council race PRIOR to holding your Pack's race. Please use place holder names i.e. Tiger Winner, Tiger Runner-Up and Tiger Design Winner.

Open Class: Please read the rule book. This is open to any Scout, Scouter, adult, or sibling that may be interested in racing their car, if they did not qualify for the big race. 

Who: Winners, Runner Ups and Best Design Winners from each Den

When: April 11-12, 2026 Times will be distributed on March 31, 2026

Lion, Tiger and Wolf racers will race on Saturday, April 11, 2026

Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light racers will race on Sunday, April 12, 2026

NEW THIS YEAR: OPEN CLASS- Saturday, April 11, 2026 around 3pm

Cost:  Early Bird Rate $11/Scout (ends March 13, 2026)                        

Full Price $21/Scout (applies March 14- March 27, 2026)

Cancellation Policy

Blackhawk Area Council Refund Policy for all: Events / Training's / Activities / Reservations

All refund requests must be submitted, to the professional staff adviser, in writing (i.e. email request) prior to the event as the policy states below. Extenuating circumstances will be considered.

30 days or more prior to an event - 100% refund

29-15 days prior to event - 70% refund

14 days-8 days prior to the event - 30% refund

7 days or less prior to event - 0% refund

Should you use an incentive / coupon / etc. where there is a reduction in fees or complimentary then the refund / change in registration / reservation is as follows:

30 days or more prior to an event - 100% discount / incentive may be transferred to another registration

29-15 days prior to event - 70% discount / incentive may be transferred to another registration
