The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training and Varsity Coach Position-Specific Training, and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth into the outdoors.
This is a required training for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Varsity Team Coaches, and Assistant Varsity Team Coaches. The skills taught are based on skills found in the “Boy Scout Hand Book”. This course is also ideal for Venture Crew adult leaders and Webelos Leaders taking their youth camping.
Materials Needed: Scout uniform, Boy Scout Handbook, Pen and Paper. In addition, since this is an overnight camping event, a full list of suggested equipment will be e-mailed to all participants.
Fees: $25.00. Fees cover all course materials (other than those listed above) and meals for the course.
Special Note: Per BSA standards, there is no “test out” option for this training. Attendance is required for the entire event. (We can make accommodations if you will be arriving slightly later than 6 PM on Friday night, if absolutely needed. Arrangements must be made with Wayne ahead of time.)
